The 2017 Talent Board Candidate Experience Award and Benchmark Programme

Congratulations on taking your first step in registering for the 2017 Talent Board Candidate Experience Award and Benchmark Programme (the CandEs).

Although the CandE Awards are ultimately a competition, the entire Talent Board Benchmark Programme primarily exists to enable any company to better understand and improve their overall candidate experience through survey research. Any corporation interested in enhancing their candidate experience and recruiting processes will benefit from participating in the Talent Board CandE Awards and Benchmark Programme. All your employer and candidate data, will be treated confidentially but leveraged anonymously for Talent Board research reports, articles, and presentations. Only the names of winning organisations will be shared publicly.

This CandE Awards and Benchmark Programme encompasses your recruiting practices, and the candidates experience from researching your organisation through the full recruiting lifecycle globally. The programme is delivered globally through regional efforts that include: North America — NAM; Europe, the Middle East and Africa — EMEA; Asia-Pacific — APAC. The programme is offered in a number of languages and we continue to add more as we expand to additional countries and regions.

Founded in 2011, Talent Board is a nonprofit (501-c3) with six years of experience proudly defining and measuring how employers treat their candidates and how improving how that adds to corporate business worldwide.

The results of our benchmarking research continue to be complimentary to employers around the world and we want to ensure the data is delivered freely to raise the standard globally through research content that is both public and of the highest quality.

We’ve also grown dramatically in the numbers of companies and candidates participating in the CandEs (nearly 400 companies and over 220,000 candidate responses in 2016).

And we’ve been solely funded by the generous donations of industry solution and service providers, individual donations and corporate donations along with the many free hours of expertise generously donated by consultant, employer and vendor volunteers.

This year we are asking for a nominal registration fee to enable us to continue delivering quality research that helps you and others capitalise on your company’s overall candidate experience and your recruiting processes – from pre-application to onboarding, as well as expand global research to include a multi-year data platform made available to all CandE participants.

The one-time annual registration fee is simple and determined by the number of regions you plan on participating in (NAM, EMEA and/or APAC):

1 Region:
$250 USD (~£195 / ~€245 / ~$325 AUD)*

2 Regions:
$395 USD (~£295 / ~€375 / ~$495 AUD)*

3 Regions:
$495 USD (~£395 / ~€465 / ~$645 AUD)*

*Please note, when you pay your registration fee, you can pay in the currency of your country/region based on USD pricing.

Once you submit your registration fee via the secure PayPal link (click on “Register Today” image) and we verify receipt (which only takes minutes), then we’ll send you the direct link to fully register for whatever regions you want to participate in.

We realise that a few firms may have such incredible budget restrictions that while they would love to participate, they find themselves unable to. If you are one of those, please contact us directly at support@thetalentboard.org and we will work with you to ensure no company misses out that really wants to improve their recruiting process and candidate experience.

Talent Board CandE Benchmark Programme Process

Our research programme is comprised of three (3) rounds of evaluations. Round 1 the employer survey Round 2 the candidate surveys and Round 3 the video assessment. To be considered for a CandE Award an employer must successfully complete round 1 and 2.

We appreciate your participation and keep raising the candidate experience bar!

The 2017 EMEA and APAC CandE timeline for award consideration and benchmark analysis is outlined below:

  1. Employer Registration – Opens 1 March, 2017
  2. Employer Survey (Round 1) – Opens 1 March, 2017
  3. Candidate Survey (Round 2 – required for Awards) – Opens 10 April, 2017
  4. Rounds 1 and 2 Deadline: tentative 1 November 2017
  5. EMEA and APAC Winner Storyteller Videos (Round 3 – optional) – Opens tentative 1 November 2017
  6. EMEA and APAC CandE Award Winners Notified – tentative 15 November 2017
  7. EMEA and APAC CandE Award Storyteller Recipients Notified– December 2017

Again, a registration fee is now required to initiate registration and then the Round 1 – Employer Survey.

Registration allows you to designate which region(s) you wish to benchmark and/or compete for the awards. You are also designating primary points of contact for communication and confirming agreements. Once this is completed Talent Board will supply you with unique links to start your benchmark process as an employer and then for your candidates.

Please read the following about each of the research rounds before you register and feel free to contact us should you have any questions.

Round 1 – Employer Survey

Within 2-3 days of completing your registration, Talent Board will provide you a unique employer link or links (if you choose to participate in multiple regions and languages), which is the first of three data collection stages, and one of two required stages to be considered for a CandE Award.

The Employer Survey asks you to provide information about how you treat candidates in each segment of the hiring process: Candidate Attraction, Application Management, Candidate Selection and Disposition, Finalist Management and New Hire Onboarding. We also ask a few questions about your industry, total hires and other related business questions.

You can save your survey entries and complete at your convenience. Once the Employer Survey is completed, you will receive confirmation of submission and we will contact you regarding the requirements necessary to proceed to Round 2 – the Candidate Survey. If you choose not to proceed to Round 2, your company information will remain anonymous and confidential and you will receive complimentary access to your data sets compared to the aggregated total of the top ranked Benchmark Companies (CandE Winners).

The 2017 Employer Survey questions are available for download here.

Round 2 – Candidate Survey

If you choose to continue to Round 2, Talent Board will provide you a unique link or links (if you choose to participate in multiple regions) for you to forward to your candidates directly in order to survey them about their experience with your organisation. We will provide additional details on options for inviting and engaging your candidates in the survey process. You will invite your candidates to respond to the Candidate Survey/s, and we will collect their results as a secure and impartial research organisation.

If you cannot confirm participation in both Round 1 and 2, you are encouraged to at least complete Round 1 – the Employer Survey. Again, this will allow you to receive complimentary access to your data set/s compared to the aggregated total of the top ranked Benchmark Companies (CandE Winners). In this instance, you will not be eligible for the award, but your company identity will still remain completely anonymous and confidential.

If your company completes Rounds 1 and 2 (in any region), and our data analyses and final stacked ranking reveals that your candidate experience excels in Round 2, you could be a recipient of a 2017 Candidate Experience Award. We will notify the winners directly first, and then announce them by name via press releases and at the Candidate Experience Awards Gala Receptions in NAM, EMEA and APAC. These ceremonies will honour the top ranked Benchmark Company achievements and are open to all participants. Dates and locations for the 2017 Awards Galas to be confirmed. PLEASE NOTE that your company identity remains completely anonymous and confidential should you not be a recipient of an Award.

The 2017 Candidate Survey questions are being finalized, and will be available for download soon. You can download last years 2016 Candidate Survey here, which will be almost identical to this years survey.

Round 3 – CandE Award Winner Storyteller Recipients

In addition to receiving an award and recognition at the CandE Awards Gala Receptions, a subset of winners will receive “Storyteller” designations based on their optional Round 3 video interview about recruiting and candidate experience best practices and their survey results. Winners will be asked to complete this short video that will then be judged by a panel of independent judges. If chosen for this honour, you will be recognised publicly for your unique Candidate Experience story.

All CandE winners for all regions will be announced publically later in 2017 and early 2018 and will be celebrated at our annual CandE Awards Galas (details TBD). All winners are invited and encouraged to attend (complimentary VIP passes will be provided). Also, all employers that registered and completed the Employer Survey (Round 1) are invited to attend. Travel and lodging are the responsibility of participating employers.

Frequently asked Questions

Does it cost anything to participate in the Talent Board Candidate Experience Awards and Benchmark Programme?

Starting in 2017, yes. Founded in 2011, Talent Board is a nonprofit (501-c3) with six years of experience proudly defining and measuring how employers treat their candidates and how improving how that adds to corporate business worldwide.

What are the benefits of participating in the CandE Awards and Research?

In exchange for investing the time necessary to complete both the employer survey and distributing the candidate survey to a targeted population of candidates (Talent Board collects the data), each participating employer will, at a minimum, receive aggregate survey data on how they compare to other employers as well as how candidates rate their experiences. In other words, each company will get specific feedback on how they can improve their candidate experience. Top-ranked benchmark companies that win a CandE award will be recognised publicly for their excellence and will receive a digital logo to proudly display on their employment marketing materials.

What countries are eligible to apply?

Currently the awards and research is available to employers in North America (NAM); Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA); and Asia-Pacific (APAC). The employer and candidate surveys are available in English and multiple other languages.

Is there any risk that our recruiting practices and negative candidate responses will be revealed or exposed?

No. All employer and candidate responses are confidential and we do not collect any candidate contact information. Only employers that win a CandE award will be revealed publicly. The identity of employers that participate, but do not win a CandE award, will not be revealed. Certain exemplary aspects award-winning employer recruiting practices may be included in Talent Board’s annual research report or press with participating employer permission.
